The grandbabies!

As promised, here is a little bit about our two newest additions. We definitely weren't ready to be grandparents but I believe that everything happens the way it is supposed to and they are the light of our lives.

Miss Scarlet Raelyn was born June 12, 2010. Yep, sharing a birthday with her mommy. Kayla wanted to be able to party for her 21st birthday but what an awesome birthday present. We had a small scare when she was born. She was slightly purple and they had to give her oxygen but what a beautiful baby she was.... Perfect! She started walking at 9 months and even learned how to "high five". She is now 14 months old and so smart; I think she gets that from her grandpa. She wakes up in the morning and gets herself out of bed and tootles out to the living room to play until mommy or daddy get up (of course grandma or grandpa are there to keep an eye on her). She is able to open doors by herself so we have to watch the front door so she doesn't head out to see the dogs. Yes, dogs. Her first word was dog, she loves dogs. Our neighbors have dogs and grandpa takes her outside to see them so she thinks she can go out on her own to see the dogs. She can also say mom, hi, bye, snack, juice, daddy, and is learning thank you. And shh... so funny. I told her the other morning "shh, Lucian is sleeping" so she walks out to the living room and grandpa says good morning to her and she shushed him all serious. Priceless! She is a little lover and loves to give hugs. She is our little princess but is now a beauty queen. She did her first pageant (Lacey Pageant) and she was so good. She won Cover, Supreme Model, facial beauty and personality and has 2 big trophies and 2 beautiful crowns. We are looking forward to entering her in more but just sporadically and for fun. Kayla's main goal is to enroll her in gymnastics and cheerleading in January.

Lucian Sinatra was born July 22, 2010. Michael loves Frank Sinatra and we were listening to Sinatra and Dean Martin while Rachel was in labor. He also likes Johnny Cash and we thought his name should be Cash Sinatra, but Lucian it is. He is my "little man" because he looked like an old man when he was born. He was still adorable though. Poor Rachel, there were some complications during labor. Lucian was having a hard time during the labor and at every contraction instead of his heart beating faster it would get slower so they ended up having to do a C-section and he was jaundice. Michael was right there for her and Rachel did great. He took a little longer to crawl and walk but he was walking before his first birthday. He is like his daddy, so serious and a little hellion. Scarlet always wants to give him hugs but all he wants to do it push her and grab her. He loves balls, the little plastic balls, tennis balls, footballs. He throws it and goes to get it, throws it, goes to get it. We think he may be some kind of ball player when he gets older.

They, along with Kayla and Michael, are our angels. We adore them and we are so happy they are in our lives.

Until next time.....

Love to you all!!

Welcome!

I created this blog for a class assignment. I am hoping to be able to share with family and friends tidbits of information and photos of our beautiful grandkids as they are growing and learning new things. Some of you have already missed so many things; crawling, learning to walk, first words. I will post photos also.

I guess we will start at the beginning as some of you may not know us personally but this should give you an idea of our family. Chris and I met in 1989 when I moved to the desert. We were married March 2, 1991, what a hectic day that was. Some people thought it was a sign that we weren't supposed to be together and some even thought we wouldn't make it 5 years... and here we are 20 years later! What happened? That was the weekend of the big storm. Everything was flooded. You couldn't get in or out of Desert Hot Springs so we were afraid that most of our guests wouldn't make it to the wedding and I wouldn't make it over from Palm Springs. We had our wedding at the clubhouse where my grandparents lived and part of the roof caved in the night before, the cake was the wrong color, the flowers were a disaster. I did make it but I was late, yes to my own wedding. The wedding itself was nice, nothing big and fancy but our family and friends were there, well most of them. A friend of mine was bringing some catered trays with her and the poor thing broke down on the freeway so my grandfather left to go help her. Needless to say they both missed the ceremony. We have had some ups and downs but we are heading towards our 21st anniversary!

Kayla Renai was born June 12th 1989 at 9:50 pm. Our little angel. She was beautiful and smart, learning how to read and write her name and few other words before Kindergarten. She was on the Honor Roll all thru elementary school and won numerous awards. She was on the cheer team or flag team from 3rd grade thru 12th grade. She has become a beautiful woman. She got her first job while in high school at Starbucks and still works there today going on 5 years now. She also attends Champion Beauty School and takes care of our little princess Scarlet, we'll talk more about her later.

Michael Anthony was born July 15, 1991 at 12:14 pm. Thank God that both my children came into this world at decent hours. He is a typical boy, loved his cars and trucks when he was little and always wanted to pick on his sister. He was little more rebellious in school than Kayla and we had to push him a little more. He is now a wonderful, handsome young man. He started his first job at 16 working at Albertsons and has been working at Ralphs for the past 3 years. He is currently a single father to our handsome little man Lucian.

Tomorrow... Scarlet and Lucian!

Love to you all,

The Brocks
